Barrett Earl Bright, age 73, of Cypress, TX, died on August 6th 2015.
He was born on June 3, 1942 in a private residence in Lewisville, Arkansas to Barrett Bright Sr. and Avis Harrison Bright (later Redmon). He was delivered mainly by his Aunt Dee due to the Dr. being incapacitated by strong drink.
He graduated from OHS in Odessa TX in 1960, where he was known for track, boxing and for playing both ways on the football team. (They beat Permian the first year.) Barrett joined the US Army immediately following graduation and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne from 1960-1963. On his first leave he came home and married his high-school sweetheart Sue.
During his life he worked all over the world as a welder, crop-duster, roustabout, plant operator, unit foreman, and precommission/startup engineer. When he was put on disability after his first heart attack in 1986, he transitioned his plant/refinery knowledge into the computer field where he produced training drawings, procedures and P&IDs for offshore platforms and refineries. Almost everything he did in life was self taught. He was working 50 hours a week at the time he went into the hospital.
He was a huge supporter of the NRA. He loved guns, reading, self reliance and gardening.
He is survived by his spouse Sue Gray Bright, his daughter Beverly Bright Moss, his son William B. Bright, and his grandchildren Barrett A. Bright, Avis K. Bright, Elizabeth S. Bright and William R. Bright.
Also by his nephews and nieces: Rocky, Jeannie, Mary and Tommy from William G. Bright; Paula, Tracy, and Penny from Kay Strange; Angie and James from James Bright; Steven and Ross from Bailey Bright.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his brothers and sister, and his daughter Avis Carol Bright.
Services will be held at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel of Stamps Arkansas on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Hutchings and Bro. Jim Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the funeral home.
