Betty Jo McKamie, age 92 of Buckner, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at R.J. Williams Hospice House of El Dorado, Arkansas. Mrs. McKamie was born March 29, 1926 in Texarkana, Arkansas to John Brooks and Viola Warner Curry.
Mrs. McKamie was preceded in death by her parents; two aunts, Catherine Curry and Minnie Curry; two brothers, Fred Brooks Curry and John Eugene Curry; and two grandsons, Jeffery Allen Miller and William Brandon McKamie.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Norman McKamie of Buckner, AR; one daughter, Amanda Jo Miller and husband, John of Magnolia, AR; one son, John McKamie and wife, Mary of Falcon, AR; two granddaughters, Lorri Ann Skelton and husband, Tim of Elkins, AR and Donna Michelle Evans and husband, Steve of Magnolia, AR; great granddaughters, Nicole Page Fields and husband, W.D. and Abby Miller all of Magnolia, AR; great grandsons, Teller Ryan Daniel, Garrett Corley Daniel, Kelynn Dawson Daniel all of Elkins, AR; Connor Phillip Daniel of US Navy, Yorktown, VA, Tyler Tribble and wife, Holly of Stamps, AR and Nathan Tribble of Magnolia, AR; great-great grandson, Dawson Fields of Magnolia, AR; brother-in-law, Wallace McKamie; several nieces and nephews; and companion, their dog, Brittany. She will be missed by all of her family and many friends.
Her mother passed away when she was 3 years old and she was raised by her father and her two aunts, Catherine (Aunt Kate) Clarington Curry and Minnie (Aunt Jake) Adrian Curry in Magnolia, AR.
She worked in various businesses in Magnolia when she was young. She worked for the telephone company for many years and help train operators when Magnolia switched to the dial system. She worked in the office at Shanhouse and then worked for Weiser-Brown for years. Her last job was at the Buckner Post Office in Buckner, AR.
She loved and enjoyed her family very much. Her main hobby was refunding and coupons. She was known as the "Coupon Lady" by many in the coupon groups.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Falcon Cemetery with Bro. Mickey May officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR, Thomas Street location. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR on Thomas Street. The family will receive guests at John and Mary McKamie's, 2809 Hwy 355, Buckner, AR. Online registration is available at www.aosmithfuneralhome.com .
