Betty Jo Mitchell, age 90, of Stamps, AR passed away August 21, 2020 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Buckner, AR.  Known by everyone as "Ms. Betty", "Miss B.J.", or "Meme", she was a woman who loved the Lord and her family.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Mrs. Mitchell was a kind person with a great sense of humor and a true gem to all who knew her.

Mrs. Mitchell was born on December 24, 1929 in Lafayette County, AR to C.R. and Ethel Burnett.  She was a retired Administrative Assistant from B&D Electric in Stamps.  Mrs. Mitchell was an active member of First Baptist Church in Stamps and enjoyed teaching VBS and participating in WOW and other programs.

Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her parents, husband Derrill Martin, husband Travis Mitchell, son Thomas Martin, sons-in-law Tim Rowe and Larry Fowler, granddaughter Melissa Martin, four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by daughter Cassandra Fowler of Dallas, TX, daughter and son-in-law Missi and Danny Smith of Buckner, AR, Granddaughter Michelle McMurrough and husband Stan McMurrough of Stamps, AR, Grandsons Tyler Rowe and Blake Fowler of Dallas, TX, Grandson Brannon Smith and wife Christin Smith of Taylor, AR, Great grandson Dustin McMurrough, wife Candance and daughter Raleigh of Hope, AR, great grandson Jake Hicks of Hot Springs, AR, great granddaughter and her "person" Brooke McMurrough of Stamps, AR, great granddaughter Ashley Tucker of Dallas, TX, great grandsons Gabe, Peyton, and Preston Smith and great granddaughter Chloe Smith of Taylor, AR.  She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces and cousins, a special nephew, her "favorite", Cliff Burnett and wife Judy, and special friends Kay and Jerry Smith, Junior Smith, Cody Harvel, Tammy Porter, and Bonnie Hawthorne.

Private services will be held at Shiloh Cemetery in Buckner, AR on Monday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Smith Funeral Home with Brother Mike Turner officiating.
