Bobby Jean (BJ) McGee, age 77, of Buckner, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was born March 21, 1937, in Stamps, Arkansas to Charlie McGee and Vera Cheatham McGee Dixon. He spent 21 years in the Air Force including time during the Vietnam War. He retired from the US Air Force as tech sergeant. After service, he returned to Stamps and opened and operated BJ's Alternator and Starter Service in Stamps. After closing the shop, he started raising chickens. He raised chickens for 22 years before retiring. In 1999, the McGee family was named Farm Family of the Year for Lafayette County. Mr. McGee was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Master Mason of Plattsmith Masonic Lodge No. 6 AF&AM, Mason member of Stamps Free & Accepted Masons #121, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and an avid hunter.

Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his father, Charlie McGee; mother, Vera Cheatham McGee Dixon; and brother, Jerry McGee.

He leaves behind his wife of thirty-two years, Sharon McGee; two sons, Arthur McGee of Wilmington, VA and Wayne McGee of Rockport, TX; daughter, Darla McClennen and husband, Scott of Sugarland, TX; grandson, Adam McGee and wife, Ashley of Rosston, AR who is currently serving in the US Army in Germany; former daughter-in-law, Mary Beth McGee of Rosston, AR; step children, Kim McWilliams Jones and husband, Scott, Dennis McWilliams, April McWilliams Killian and husband, Tim, Kenneth McWilliams and wife, Erin, and Kevin McWilliams and wife, Joella. He is also survived by two nieces, two nephews, and other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Liberty Baptist Church in Stamps, AR with Bro. Ernie Sorrells and Bro. Darrell Sullivan officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery.
