Obituary

Carilon May Roper, age 68 of Waskom, Texas passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Roper was born February 4, 1947 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Authur and Ada May. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Carilon battled Multiple Sclerosis for 39 years and was an inspiration to many. She never complained or gave up and always considered herself blessed.

Mrs. Roper was preceded in death by her father, Authur May; father-in-law, O.D. Roper; and sister-in-law, Kerry May.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Wayne "Pug" Roper of the home; mother, Ada May of Stamps, AR; two daughters, Misty Manshack and husband, Jerry of Waskom, TX and Wendy Russell and husband, Mike of Stamps, AR; two grandsons, Dylan Manshack and Christopher Russell; one sister, Jean Matthews and husband, Bill; brother, Larry May; mother-in-law, Louise Roper of Hamilton, TX; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thanks to Good Shepherd Home Care of Marshall, TX; Willis-Knighton Hospital in Bossier City, LA; and Dr. Steve Kitchings and staff at the Willis-Knighton Hyperbaric and Wound Care in Shreveport, LA.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR with Bro. Mickey May officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund in the name of Carilon Roper at any Chase Bank (for assistance call Elaine Sutton 903-926-3810). This account is to provide financial assistance and support for a single mother battling Multiple Sclerosis. If a Chase Bank is not convenient, checks may be mailed to A.O.
