Carroll Gene "Buddy" Simmons, age 87, of Springhill, Louisiana passed away on August 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 22, 1935, in Baskin, LA to Joseph Calhoun Simmons and Nobie (McKinnis) Simmons. Mr. Buddy worked in the Powerhouse at International Paper for 25 years and as an Operator at Marathon Oil Company for 20 years. The kindness and love in Buddy's heart was especially felt with his relationship with children and dogs. It shown brightly and was returned with the laughter and love of children and the happy tail wags by all dogs alike. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback trail rides.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Greg Simmons; brother, Billy Joe Simmons; and two sisters, Betty Dennis, and Sue Gentine.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Simmons; son, Eric Simmons; daughter, Jana McCain and husband, Lex; the two granddaughters that held a special place in his heart, Jolie Carolann McCain, and Jorja Suzanne McCain; fur babies, Lillie and Belle; many nieces and nephews and a special niece, Tammy Sikes of Friendswood, TX.

Pallbearers will be John Rangel, Eric Simmons, Lex McCain, Randy Morgan, Bill Henderson, Ray Powell and Greg Elam.
Honorary Pallbearers Calvin Craig, Bonnie Craig, Jimmie McDonald, and Johnny McEachern.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Regional Hospice and their caregivers, Hailey Simmons, and Selena Harper, for the love and care of Mr. Buddy and the family expresses sincere appreciation to Johnny McEachern and Randy Morgan for the kindness shown to the family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 26, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church in Springhill, LA with Bro. Terry Hughes officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
