David Wayne Cook, age 85, of Lewisville, Arkansas, went to his heavenly home on May 26, 2023. He was born April 27, 1938, in Stamps, Arkansas to Horace and Juanez (Jurls) Cook. He was a member of Knighton's Chapel in Lewisville, Arkansas. David served four years in the U.S. Navy as a medical Corpsman, stationed in San Diego, California for eighteen months of that time. He was attached to a Marine Corp Unit stationed in Japan with maneuvers in Taiwan.
Preceding him in death was his parents; son, Timothy Cook; step son, Jeb W. Foster; brother Michael Cook; nephew Jeffrey Cook; niece Monica Powell and her infant daughter, Madison Elaine.
Survivors include his wife Nancy (Wagner) Cook; son, Tony, wife Lisa and granddaughter Emily Bilbray (Jeremy) of Camden, Arkansas; Stepson Kyle Foster of Lewisville, Arkansas; sisters Carolyn Cole of Lewisville, Arkansas, Linda Cole (Dennis) of Magnolia, Arkansas, Cindy Powell (Clay) of McKinney, Texas; brother, Eric Cook (Cindy) of Lubbock, Texas; sister in law, Kathy Cook of Tyler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
David retired from Red River Army Depot, Texarkana, Texas. He enjoyed working in his yard and vegetable garden and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Pallbearers will be Clay Powell, Ryan Cole, Eric Cook, Adam Cook, Brad Cook, and Mark Cole. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ricky Jurls.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel in Stamps, Arkansas, with Brother Dennis Cole officiating, interment to follow at Sardis Cemetery, Stamps, Arkansas, under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, in the Smith Chapel, Stamps, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Sardis Cemetery Association, c/o Ms. Penny Cox 3790 Hwy 53, Buckner, Arkansas 71827 or to your church or favorite charity.
