Elaine Cogburn Sherman

Elaine Cogburn Sherman, age 78, passed peacefully into her Saviors Arms on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born on March 3, 1948, to Alvie Doyle and Dora Belle Cogburn in Obrien, Oregon.

Elaine had many passions in her life. Hunting, volunteer fire fighting, her work with the VFW…but none compared to the passion she had for her family and friends. Whether she was cooking for a child’s birthday, or Christmas or Thanksgiving, or celebrating any accomplishment of someone she loved, she was there! She always had time if you needed to talk, and if she didn’t have time, she would make time! She loved playing Bingo at the Taylor VFW, listening to the band at “The Saloon”, and tried to never miss a lunch date with her “Golden Girls”. To say she will be missed would be an understatement! If you had the opportunity to know Elaine, then you are truly blessed. She loved life and strived to make those around her love it too.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Charles David Adamson and Tony Lee Adamson 1st, and the love of her life, her husband, Bill Sherman, aka Mr. Bill!

Elaine is survived by two sons, Jerry Adamson and Tony Adamson, both of Taylor. One daughter, Kimberly Carter of Buckner, Arkansas. Three sisters, Sue Garrison of Mena, Arkansas, Joyce Cogburn and Connie Cole, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas. One brother, Billy Cogburn (Carmen) of Crescent City, California. 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild with 2 more due in November. And a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11 till 2 at the Taylor VFW with a graveside memorial at her family cemetery in Fancy Hill, Arkansas at a later date.

Cremation Services are under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations to be made to the funeral home to offset the funeral expenses incurred at this time.
