Minister Etta Jo Gray

March 12, 1941 – September 7, 2021

Minister Etta Jo Gray, 80 of Hope Arkansas passed away on September 7, 2021 in a Little Rock Hospital.  Minister Gray was born to Mr. Horace Brewer, Sr. and Mrs. Charlice Pearson-Brewer on March 12, 1941.  She was a very active member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Washington, Arkansas and played for many of the other churches in the surrounding area for many years until her health started to fail.  In her younger years, she joined the Garrett Chapel Baptist Church, after a period of time moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Washington, Arkansas.

Mrs. Gray attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School where she graduated from in 1959, after graduating from school she married Mr. Lee Roy Gamble and to that union six children were born.  Mrs. Gray was an employee of the cleaners where she was a Spot Specialist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, maternal and paternal grandparents as well as her three brothers, Horace Brewer, Jr., Danny Brewer and Charles Brewer and is survived by all of six of her children.  Three sons, Lee (Robbin) Brewer of Fayetteville, Arkansas, James (Octavia) Gamble of Hope, Arkansas and Patrick Gamble of Dallas, Texas.  Three Daughters Mary Brewer and Jeanette (Ted Hamilton Gamble both of Hope, Arkansas and Tesease Cain of Tyler, Texas.

Mrs. Gray also had a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 315 South Main Street, Hope, Arkansas, 71801 Saturday September 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.  There will not be a public viewing or visitation prior to the service.  Interment will be immediately after the service at Flint Hill Cemetery 1031 Bluff Springs Road, Mineral Springs, Arkansas 71851.

Services will be under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home and Staff, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas.
