Eugenia Collum was born May 4, 1930, in Bradley, Arkansas. She went home peacefully to be with the Lord on March 26, 2023, at the age of 92, in Cleveland, Texas.

Preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Lee "Leecy" Adkins and Elsie Adkins; sister, Geraldine "Jerri" Brannon; husband, James C. Smith; husband, Richard E "Dick" Collum; daughter, Lavenia Parker; son in law, Timothy Keith Morton.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lea Ann Dudley (Joseph D.) and Regenia Morton; sons, James Smith (Roxanne) ,George Smith (Tina) and Terry Collum (Glenda); sister, Mollye Ann McCalman; son in law Sammy Parker (Liz); grandchildren, Gina & Louis Derouen, Deanna & Jason Brewer, Andrea Fleck, Julie & Travis Bennett, Chris & Samantha Parker, Jason & Tera Dudley, Joseph A. & Amber Leigh-Anne Dudley, Warren Keith & Lacey Morton, Amanda & John Porter, Kimberly & James Castle, Evelyn Collum, Adrian & Tim Godwin; 31 great Grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Married James C. Smith, from Lewisville, AR on November 30, 1947. He passed on October 14, 1965, in Houston, TX. Married Richard E. "Dick" Collum, from Houston, Texas, on August 16, 1991. He passed on August 17, 1996.

She retired from The Lafayette County Tax Collector Office, October 1, 2016, after many years of service, at the age 86.   Eugenia loved her job and the people she came in contact with.  She would tell you she has Christmas every day. She served on The Lafayette County Library Board 2012-2016, worked for the City of Lewisville, during Richard E." Dick" Collum's term as Mayor. Most happy being in the world of politics and getting involved.  Persistent on asking Politicians to help the Seniors and addressing other interest needing their attention. Eugenia was a people person, loved life and making a difference. After leaving Arkansas, she sorely missed being around family, those she worked with and being able to visit all who crossed her path she considered family.

Her childhood was spent on the farm with her dad, Leecy Adkins, and Mom, Elsie Adkins in Bradley, Arkansas. She had two sisters, Geraldine "Jerri" and Mollye. She helped her Dad with the horses, cows, etc. She loved horses and bought her first horse in Hot Springs, AR, at the age of 10. Permission from the governor was required and it was done. Riding her horse to school they would leave them in the pasture next to the school. Eugenia took piano lessons at a young age.  At one of her church recitals, she played the Boogy Woogy, instead of playing what was given.  It sure did raise some eyebrows and her dad was not so happy. Sounds like Eugenia doesn't it? She was an independent thinker. She played piano at Bradley Baptist Church where she was raised. She did in later years play piano at Canfield Baptist Church and attended Trinity Baptist Church. During one of her teen years, she asked Papa Leecy for a tractor and plow for Christmas. The plow didn't do like she wanted, and he had to return it. She attended Bradley High School and loved playing basketball.  She told me she set a state record for Free Throws and was so proud of it. Eugenia attended the yearly "Conway Days" in Bradley, as often as she could. On her 50 ^th High School class reunion, the majority of the class of 1948 attended.  She had a great time talking about the good ole days.

They moved to Houston, Texas in 1958. Her husband found a job at a car dealership as a Service Writer. They attended Bethany Baptist Church. She substituted at Houston Gardens Elementary School in the office.  Everyone called her " Honey". She was known for having disciplined children and serious about her children's education. She was a cancer survivor in the early 1960's. With the passing of her husband in 1965, she became a single mother with 5 children to raise. Some years later, she had the opportunity to return to Lewisville, Arkansas and she took Richard Collum with her. Closing the chapter of her life as Eugenia Smith. Beginning a new chapter as Eugenia Collum.  Looking back on her life, you can see how God's working helped her through the trials and obstacles of Life.

" Our family could never thank you enough for the part you had in Mom's life. Your prayers, cards, friendship, visits made, love and patience will be forever remembered. Mom certainly left her mark....."

"God blessed us with a Mom like no other. God knew He gave us a jewel beyond compare. She ran her course, with God's help, kept the faith. She passed peacefully and is in Heaven with our Savior. Enjoying all He has for her. We praise God for our Mom, His grace and mercy. She will be missed. When Mom comes to mind, we pray a smile and laughter follow. It will for us......"

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in her name

Graveside Services will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bradley, Arkansas on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Doyce Whitten officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, Arkansas.
