Rev. George Lee Johnson's Obituary
Rev. George Lee Johnson, 82, of Lewisville, AR., the pastor of First Baptist Church in Canfield, AR and Moderator of the Lafayette/Miller Baptist District Association , went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 21st at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, AR.
He was born October 26, 1932 in Lewisville, AR. To Howard and Martha Wise Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In 1994 he retired as a foreman with Southern Pacific Railroad after 24 years of service, served faithfully for 33 years, with his wife working close by his side, as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Canfield, AR, until God called him home. He was the Moderator of the Lafayette - Miller Baptist District Association, 23 years, 32 degree F&AM, and past served as Most Worshipful Master.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years. ; Mrs. Ruby Johnson , three daughters; Mrs. Kathy (Martin) Richards of Pine Bluff, AR., Mrs. Helen (Richard) Buckner of Lewisville, TX, and Mrs. Georgia (Ron) Hughey of Burleson, TX. Four sisters; Ms. Ruthie and Rose Johnson both of Memphis, TN., Ms. Louisa Smith of Augusta, AR., and Ms. Inetta Hostler of Pine Bluff, AR. Four brothers; Casey Johnson of Lewisville, AR., Rev. Claude Johnson of Sidney, OH., Luther Johnson of Anna, TX., and Rev. Roy Johnson of San Antonia, TX. Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, pastors, ministers, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28th , at 1:p.m. at the Lafayette County High School Auditorium (208 East 7th Street) in Lewisville, AR.. With burial to follow in the Old Town Cemetery in Lewisville, AR.. Under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps. Officiating will be Rev. Lewis page.
A special Memorial Service will be held Friday 6-8:pm at the St. James Baptist Church (Hwy 82 West) in Lewisville, AR. Opportunities of expressions, encouragements, sympathy, and last respects will be allow during that time.
The body will lie in State Saturday from 12:Noon till service time at the Auditorium.
