Ms. Gertie Mae Lockhart, 90, of Southfield, MI, formerly of McKamie, AR. passed away May 4th in Detroit, MI.
She was born August 8, 1924 in Mckamie, AR. To Arthur and Lela Greene Hurman.
She graduate from Lafayette Training Academy in Stamps, AR. She later met and married Wallace Lockhart, Jr. of Pine Bluff, AR., two lovely daughters were born., Eventually she relocated to Detroit, MI, which was to become her home.
She's preceded in death by her parents, one daughter; Dorothy Mae Davis, one brother; Robert Hurman, four sisters; Farrie Hurman, Alma Berry, Helen Turner, and Odell Eaton. .
Survivors include: a daughter; Ms. Gwendolyn Lockhart, one brother; Willie Arthur Hurman, one sister; Jessie Mae Witchert. Four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12th , at 2:p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR. With burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in McKamie, AR. . Under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Inc. of Stamps, AR. Officiating will be Rev. Otis Berry.
