Gilmer(Bud) Luther Smith, age 79 of Lewisville, Arkansas passed away at his home Friday, January 12, 2018 with his family at his bedside. He was born February 8, 1938 in Smead, Arkansas to George Gilmer and Ima Dell (Neely) Smith. He owned and operated a sawmill for many years and was in the sawmill industry all his working life. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ near Lewisville for a number of years. He enjoyed being around family and friends and will be missed by all that shared in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marcy Langley, one brother, Donald Ray Smith, a granddaughter, Lucretia Dauzat as well as his brother-in-laws A.L. Langley and Don Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Smith of Lewisville, Arkansas (married almost 60 years). Two daughters, Janine Cox (Gary) of Lewisville and Safrona Fenske (Randy) of Lewisville. Two sons, Gilmer L. Smith, Jr. (Shannon) of Willis Point, TX and Lance Smith (Rolena) of Elbert, CO., a sister, Mary Martin of Blanchard, LA and a brother, Tommy Parker (Linda) of Waldo, Arkansas.
Left to mourn his passing is nine grandchildren and their spouses as well as six great grandchildren
A visitation for Mr. Smith will be held Monday evening at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., January 15, 2018. No services are planned at this time. A memorial service will be held at at a later date. Services are under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, Arkansas. Online condolences may be made on our website.
