Obituary

Gwendolyn Mae Griffin age 88, born October 19, 1936, passed away at Wentworth Place May 20, 2025, peacefully in her sleep.

She is survived by one brother Grady Phillips, wife Emily Phillips of Lake Erling; two sisters, Gloria McClure of St. Louis, Missouri and Gayla Kelley of Stamps, Arkansas; One stepson Kerry Griffin, wife Vickie Griffin of Bussey, Arkansas; one stepdaughter Marjorie Myers of Shreveport, Louisiana; and multitude of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and loving friends from all over.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Griffin of Bussey, Arkansas; her mother, Minnie Beatrice Roberts, and father George Washington Phillips of Willisville, Arkansas; three brothers G.W. Phillips Jr., Gary Phillips, and Glen Phillips; three sisters, Geraldine Morris, Geneva Sue Jackson, and Grace Elaine Hendrix; and three stepchildren, Wayne Griffin, Barbara Picket, and Barbara Reynolds.

To know Gwen, was to know she loved serving as a caregiver for Magnolia Manor (now known as Wentworth Place) for many years, but more importantly her love for the lord, her family, and her church family at Beacon Baptist Church in Bussey, AR. Gwen also loved the Friendly Show (and was a frequent caller into the show), along with all things nature, specially tending her garden, a love she's had since childhood as she cherished those special memories in the garden with her parents and siblings growing up. When it came to animals, Gwen had an unconditional love that knew no bounds.

Gwen was not only a caregiver to seniors during her career but took on this role at a young age when she lost her mother. Gwen stepped into the role of "mother" to her younger siblings, all while continuing her high school education.

Her final years, she cherished as a resident of Wentworth Place in Magnolia, AR, where she gained so many new family and friends throughout her time there.
