Hazel Bolton Howell, 92, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, and formerly of Stamps and the Walker Creek Community died in Hot Springs after a short illness on November 24, 2020. She was born February 4, 1928, in Stamps to P.G. and Francis Elizabeth Bolton. Hazel worked for Amfuel in Magnolia and Maybelline in North Little Rock. She was a member of Mt. Ida First Methodist Church and was active at Taylor, Amboy, and Stamps Methodist Churches. She enjoyed going to the senior center, traveling and being with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-- Earnest Howell, and 10 brothers and sisters (Herman Bolton, Idele Thompson, Dwayne Bolton, Wille Bell Everitt, Merble Fish, Ouida Bethany, Erma Montgomery, Geneva Leggett, Bobbie Irvin Allen, and Emma Poe.
Mrs. Howell is survived two daughters—Dr. Diann Gathright (Al) of Mt. Ida and Dr. Pamela Howell of Midland, TX. One son, Ronnie (Kathy) of Crossett. Her grandchildren are Britt Gathright (Elizabeth) of Tulsa, Jonathan Gathright (Staci) of Bentonville, Lance Howell (Tammy) of Ward, Justin Howell of Rogers, and Elizabeth Howell of Logan, Utah. She delighted in spending time with her great grandchildren—Katie and Mary Gathright of Tulsa, and Michael Gathright of Fort Meade, MD; Jake and Shelby Gathright of Bentonville; and Briann Howell of Ward. Danny and Josh Ormand of Stamps were also treasured as family. The host of nieces, nephews, and friends were also her joy. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, love of all people and her wonderful home cooked meals.
Graveside services will be held 11AM Friday November 27, 2020 at Oak Grove Cemetery near Stamps under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home with the Reverend Ron Newberry officiating.
