James Adron McAteer, age 81, of Rosston, Arkansas passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his home. Mr. McAteer was born January 9, 1934 in Nevada County, Arkansas to Welcome D. and Ora Mae McAteer. Mr. McAteer married Syble L. Ward on June 30, 1952 in Rosston. He retired after 42 years of employment with International Paper Company, Camden Mill. Mr. McAteer was a member of the Prescott Assembly of God Church.

Mr. McAteer was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Michael McAteer and wife, Jane Ann of Xi'an, China, Gary McAteer and wife, Brenda of Bodcaw, AR and Stephan McAteer and partner, Tom Gray of Little Rock, AR; eight grandchildren, Shannon Cook and husband, Jamie of Daisy, AR, Michelle Thompson and husband, Jeremy of Springdale, AR, Liz Gray of Frisco, TX, Lucrecia Wingfield and husband, Matt of Chengdu, China, Kristin McAteer of Xi'an, China, Lucas McAteer and wife, Faith of Bodcaw, AR, Austin Jensen of Bodcaw, AR and Kyle Jensen also of Bodcaw; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robert Jones and Dave Coleman. A heartfelt thanks goes to the compassionate caregivers of Southwest Arkansas Home Care and Serenity Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR with Rev. Mike McAteer, Rev. Jerry Hightower and Lucas McAteer officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps.
