Janet J. Smith, 80 of Rosston passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Hillcrest Care & Rehab in Prescott. She was born in Smackover on Nov. 6, 1935 to James Johnson and Estella Ellis Johnson.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Head start teacher, Alumni, Church clerk, Church announcer, Civic league, Charmettes club and etc. Her education was obtained at Nevada County Training School in Rosston, AR.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, step-father one brother, one sister and her husband Oscar D. Smith.

She is survived by two sons: Phillip (Kellie) Smith and Jerome (Wanda)Smith both of Prescott, AR. Two sisters Viralene Coleman of Pine Bluff, AR and Betty Davis of San Francisco, CA: One daughter Nora Virginia Coleman of Rosston, AR: Aunt Irene(Robert)Tidwell, Rosston, AR: (5) grand children, (8) great grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 3p.m. at Pleasant Groves Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Smith, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove-Bethel Barksdale Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.

Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2016 from 11am until 4pm at the Funeral Home.
