Janie Tipton Matthews was called home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2021. She was born on
December 17, 1941, to Roy and Dorris Tipton in Magnolia, Arkansas and lived there until she lost her mother at an early age. She was raised by Roy and Betty Tipton in Stamps, Arkansas where she was the middle sister in the trio of the Tipton girls. Both parents are deceased.

Janie loved being around people and truly cherished the years she coached softball at Little Oaks field in Mabelvale. She loved the girls she worked with as if they were her own. Those years were special to her. She was also an avid Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal fan. She worked in the nursery for many years at Immanuel Baptist Church where she was a member. She loved those babies!

Janie is survived by her children, Craig Byrd of Mabelvale, Karen Pounders of Alexander, and Shoshonna Magby. She was proud of her grandchildren: Zachary Byrd of Bryant, Christian Sartin of Alexander, Geah Matthews, and Tiffany and Shane Sartin of Mabelvale. Janie also had 3 great grandchildren: Bailey and Braden Bryant, and Ashlyn Sartin, all of Mabelvale. Survivors also include sisters Linda Mellowes (John) of Milwaukee, WI, and Rene Carson (Kit) of Little Rock along with several nieces and nephews. Janie had many friends.

There will be a memorial service for family at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, AR.
