Jeffery Danial
Nix
Apr 27, 1965 — Jun 13, 2023
Jefferson
Jeffery Danial Nix, age 58, was born April 27, 1965, in Springhill, Louisiana. He passed away unexpectedly during open heart surgery in Longview, Texas, on June 13, 2023, at 8:46pm.
Services for Jeff will be Saturday, June 17, 2023. Visitation will be from 1:00 -2:30pm at Open Door Fellowship in Springhill, LA. There will be a brief service at Open Door at 2:30 followed by a graveside service at Shiloh cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas.
Jeff was a lifelong resident of Springhill, Louisiana, but lived in Jefferson, Texas, at the time of his death. He worked 22 years at International Paper but that definitely wasn't the highlight of his life. He did a lot of living outside of that plant.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, he loved music, motorcycles, football and a good "bull burger."
Jeff loved going to concerts. Over the years he managed to meet some of his favorite celebrities and get his picture made with some of them. Wynonna, Steve Earle, Kelly Willis, and Chloe from Celtic Woman to name a few.
Jeff had several annual traditions with his kids that they looked forward to each year. When they were little they went to things like the air show, Water Town and the fireworks show. When they got older he met them at Jefferson for Christmas every year. He had special names for all of them. He called Jacey "Knothead", Amberlee "Bam", Noah "Tooks" and Haylea "Sissy".
When the kids were little he was a dirt track racer. The number on his racecar was "Exit 0" and it said "My Old Friend the Blues" across the visor after his favorite singer Steve Earle.
He also loved to travel. He spent the last year of his life on a cross country road trip where he said he was "headin' west". He did everything from flying in airplanes, driving tractors in exchange for a place to park his camper, visiting Las Vegas where the truck broke down and he got to visit the Pinball Hall of Fame, getting his picture made with aliens, visited Glacier National Park, camped in the desert, went to several air shows in different states and a whole more.
Anybody who knew Jeff knows he was quite the character. His sayings are infamous - "That's snazzy" is what we think he would say about the casket Amberlee picked out. Or he might've said "That's rite purty right there"…. He said "That's a big 10/4, over and out. I will catch you on the flip side" a lot …. When he told you goodnight he would say "Goodnight John Boy". … When he said goodbye he would say "Snowman over and out"… There are about a million more but these are some of our favorites.
He was preceded in death by his mother Patsy Beene Nix.
Jeff is survived by 3 children that he loved very much - Jacey Danial Nix of Sarepta, LA, Amberlee Breanna Nix of Springhill, LA, and Noah Jeffery Nix and Noah's girlfriend Haylea of Springhill, LA. Jeff is also survived by Kristy Nix of Springhill, LA, who was his ex, the mother of his children, and his friend. He is also survived by his father Jewell C. Nix, Jr. "Junior" of Springhill, LA. He is also survived by a close group of good friends who will miss him dearly.
Pall bearers are Peter Grillet, Greg Fields, Darron Smith, Joe Graves, J.T. Denmon and Ronnie Sanders. Honorary pall bearers are Charles McCartney and Robert "Tater Man" Tate.
In the infamous words of Jeff Nix aka Snuffy Ray - "Y'all don't chase too many chickens"
