Jerry W. Cheatham, 67 of Stamps, Arkansas passed away on October 2, 2022.  He was born on October 19, 1954 to J.W. And Dorothy Teague Cheatham.

Jerry was a friend to all that knew him, and he helped his fellow man wherever possible.  He loved the Lord and lived his life for the Lord.  He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Stamps.

Anyone that knew Jerry knew that he was an avid bottle collector as well as antiques and anything that struck his fancy.

Jerry owned his own electrical and A/C business in his early years.  Then he felt lead to go back to school to become a Registered Nurse.  He worked in the ER department at Wadley Hospital until he "stopped". He would not admit to "retired".

Jerry loved this town and the people in it. Before he retired, he was an Assistant Fire Chief for Stamps Fire Department.  He spent long hours helping get the new fire department built. (His name is on the plaque in front of the Fire Department - what a wonderful remembrance of him).

Jerry was a member of the Lakeside cemetery committee, and you could find him there often making sure that the cemetery was kept up.  He would even take his tractor there and make sure that new graves were maintained as far as dirt was either added or removed as needed.  Jerry was also a member of the Stamps City Council and was running unopposed for the new term.

He leaves his family and friends to mourn their worldly loss, but we know that he was a Christian and with the Lord and we know we will see him again.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Cheatham and two very loved uncles:  James Walter Teague and Bill Teague; Bother-in-law Vernon Smallwood, along with four aunts:  Lillian Rowe Futch, Sis Bishop, Betty Teague and Wanda Teague.

Those left to cherish his life that we shared are Dorothy Cheatham (mother), Wanda Cheatham Smallwood (sister), Steven M Richardson (Stacy) nephew - and their children Cole, Amber and Kate; Neelie A Walker (Michael) niece - and their children Elizabeth Ruiz (Melvin), Heather, Stephanie and Zachary.   Along with multiple great nieces and nephews. Jackie Teague and family Oscar Ray Teague (Cindy) and family.

Jerry took care of his mother making sure that she had daily care givers during the day while he took care of the night shift.  A special Thank You to Linda Wyrick, LuElla Willis and Brenda Brock for taking care of the Matron of the family. (Louise Toney and Marjorie Morrison were two of the original caregivers that preceded Jerry in death)

Jerry's dog Kemo (Kemosabe) will greatly miss Jerry.  They were Buddies and could often be seen around town, at the Fire Department or the cemetery.

Jerry never liked to say goodbye or bye.   He would say "See You later". We know where Jerry is and I am sure he is smiling down and watching, So Jerry, we will "See You later".    Love Your family.

Funeral services will be held 3:00P.M Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Stamps, with Bro. Mike Turner officiating, under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery in Stamps, AR.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 5P.M. until 7P.M.
