Joan DeLamar, age 72, of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 24, 2013 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home in El Dorado. She was born on November 16, 1941 in Waldo, Arkansas to Lyle Arthur and Hattie Mae Waters West. She was a member of Silver Springs Methodist Church. A special thanks goes to the caring staff at Medical Center of South Arkansas, Hudson Memorial Nursing Home, and Life Touch Hospice.
Mrs. DeLamar was preceded in death by her parents, Husband James DeLamar, and Sister and Brother-in-Law Betty and Harold Baker.
She is survived by two Sons: Byron DeLamar and wife Rhonda, and Jeff DeLamar, both of Troy, Arkansas; one Daughter Katrina Abbott and Husband John of El Dorado, Arkansas; Grandchildren: Jamie Bevins, Matt DeLamar, Nathan DeLamar, Ben Abbott, Abby Abbott, Zach Abbott, Lacey Dodson, Brandon Sweet, Kristin Sweet; Eight Great-Grandchildren; two Brothers, Don West and Wife Joanie of Elabell, Georgia, and David West of Camden, Arkansas; Sister-in-Law Shelba Russell and Husband Randolph of Elliot, Arkansas, and Brother-in-Law Randy DeLamar and wife Peggy of Camden, Arkansas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at DeLamar Cemetery 2 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 with Bro. Jerry Arrington officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the funeral home in Stamps. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Silver Springs Methodist Church, Hudson Memorial Nursing Home, or Life Touch Hospice in El Dorado.
