Joy Mallernee, age 80, of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at a local nursing home. She was born on May 27, 1935 in Nevada County, Arkansas to Carie and Lola Gertrude Smith Dockery.

Mrs. Mallernee was preceded in death by her parents; son, James C. Smart; brother, Roy B. Dockery, and sister, Gladys Hunnicut.

She is survived by her husband Melvin Mallernee of Texarkana, Arkansas; son David Smart of Stephens, Arkansas; Grandchildren Paula Jo Kundsem, Chasity Reynolds, Candy McWilliams, Jennifer Birge, Jeffery Smart, Jessica, and Roxanne; brother, Alby Dockery of Rockwall, Texas; Nephew, William Terry Dockery of Rowlett, Texas and a niece, Sonja Agularia of White Oak, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the A.O. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, Arkansas with interment following at Shover Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3pm-5pm Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the funeral home in Stamps. w
