Labon Lacy Tompkins, 101, of Taylor, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.  Mr. Tompkins was born March 29,1923 at home to David Henton and Anna Viola (Lacy) Tompkins.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Tompkins worked, a short time, for the Civilian Conservation Corps at age 18.  He was employed at International Paper Company at age 19, then at 20, he joined the navy during World War II.  After World War II, he returned to International Paper Company  where he worked until he retired at age 66.  After retirement, he enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.

Labon was a member of the Taylor Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge up to the 32-degree.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Clayton Tompkins, of sixty-two years; eleven brothers and sisters, Dewy Tompkins, Billie Tompkins, Lyla Tompkins, Baby Tompkins, Madge Tompkins, Mary (Teddy) Tompkins, Watson Tompkins, Cloyd and Loyd Tompkins, Houston Tompkins, and Marzelle Tompkins; and one grandson, Chad Tompkins.

Labon Mr. Tompkins is survived by two sons, Wayne Tompkins and wife, Vicki of Emerson, Arkansas, and Robert Tompkins and wife, Robin of Taylor, Arkansas; one daughter, Marsha Tompkins Fisk and husband, Michael of North Little Rock, Arkansas;  eight grandchildren, Tommy Tompkins, Walt Tompkins, Christian Tompkins, Christy Tompkins Hosley, Brian Tompkins, Sam Tompkins, Jason Breashears, and Ashley Breashears; sixteen great grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren and another in July; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Mr. Tompkins as his pallbearers: Brian Tompkins, Sam Tompkins, Tommy Tompkins, Robert Tompkins, Jesse Tompkins, and Aiden Hosley.  Honorary pallbearers:  Walt Tompkins, Jason Breashears, Cole Tompkins, and Grayson West.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:00a.m. at Taylor Methodist Church, with Reverend Carol Moore officiating, interment to follow at Forest Grove Cemetery, under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Homes.  Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m. until service time at the church.
