Lois Anne Payne, age 83 of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away and entered into Glory on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at her home in Stamps.

Lois was born on July 22, 1943, in Springhill, LA to parents Leonard and Attie Bess Strickland. Lois graduated high school from Springhill High and worked as a meat wrapper for Piggly Wiggly for many years. She married her sweetheart, Pat Payne, soon after high school. Together they raised two fine children, Stanley David and Alicia Ellen. Lois and Pat were married for 65 wonderful years.

Lois was a woman of many talents. She had a beautiful voice and sang with her sisters, Lola and Linda, when they were younger. She blessed her church with many specials throughout the years.

Lois was also a fine cook. She had the unique ability to taste a dish from a restaurant and re-create it in her kitchen. She helped many families through their time of grief by providing a funeral meal. She loved going “all out” at holiday seasons and putting on a huge spread for family and friends.

Lois had a sanguine personality that never met a stranger. She loved parties and entertaining others. One of her joys in life was getting together with friends, both old and new.

Lois had a great sense of style. She loved decorating her home for special days. She also enjoyed “decorating” herself in the latest fashions and always had the perfect outfit for any occasion.

Lois especially loved spending time with her family. Whether traveling to their homes or hosting them at her house in Stamps, she enjoyed her times with her children and grandchildren. Her grandkids will always remember her for her fun games and frequent “Nanny-isms.” Jus as Timothy in the Bible had a faithful grandmother named Lois who was an example of faith to him, so Mrs. Payne’s family will always remember her love for Jesus and the Word of God.

Lois was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Stamps. She was faithful to the services and served on the church’s benevolence committee. She will be truly missed by her church family.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband, Pat Payne; her son, Stanley Payne and wife Michelle of Park Hills, MO; her daughter, Alicia Turner and husband Mike of Stamps, AR; her 10 grandchildren, Kayla, Nathan, Abbey, Zach, Hailey, Patrick, Matthew, Eric Adam, and Joseph; her 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lola Berry and husband, Michael; her brother, Danny Robert Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Linda Symonds and Deborah Ellen Shaw.

Funeral services for Mrs. Payne will be held at First Baptist Church in Stamps on Thursday, September 24. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m.

A private family Internment will be held at Welcome Cemetery in Taylor, Arkansas.

Pallbearers for the service will be the grandsons of Mrs. Payne.
