Magdalene C. "Maggie" Smith Bearden, age 82 of Stamps, Arkansas left this world to be with the Lord Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Magnolia Health & Rehab. She was born March 5, 1931 in Leachville, Arkansas to Rev. Cecil and Lucille Madison Thorn. She was a retired teacher's aide, and one of her greatest joys in life was working with young children. She was a life long member of the Assembly of God ministries.



Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Donald L. Smith; three Brothers, Chuck, Earl, and Hank Thorn; step-daughter, Anna Fay Bearden; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.



She is survived by her second husband, Everitte D. Bearden; four sons, Danny Smith and wife Janice of Buckner, Charles Smith and wife Brenda of Bussey, Dennis Smith of Novi, Michigan, Steve Smith and wife Sharon of Waldo; step-son Chris Bearden and wife Jodi of Waldo; sister Carolyn Pope and husband Ed of Farmington, Michigan; brother Bob Thorn and wife Darlene of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, Donald Smith and wife Tammi of Waldo, Mike Smith and wife Glenda of Buckner, Kimberly Fitzgerald and husband Vern of Bussey, Denise Davis and husband Chris of Commerce, Michigan, DeAnn B. Smith of Flower Mound, Texas, Steven A. Smith, Jr. and wife Dusty of Paragould, Arkansas, Brian Smith and wife Christy of Stamps, and Brad Smith and wife Blonnie of Pineville, Louisiana. Also surviving Mrs. Smith are 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and a very special friend Jackie Watson. The family also would like to thank the caring staff at Magnolia Health & Rehab.



Funeral services will be held 2p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps with Rev. Gladney Hunt and Rev. Brad Smith ( Maggie's Grandson) officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Buckner under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
