Martha Jean Baker Massey

February 16, 1931 – February 11, 2025

"It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home." Ron Tranmer

Martha Jean Baker Massey was born in Bradley, Arkansas to Carl and Ruth Starling Baker.

She had two brothers, Carl Baker Jr, and Rogers Post Baker. She was always proud that they both served their country and remained close throughout their lives.

She married her High School sweetheart and love of her life, Roy Dale Massey, on December 24, 1947, at the age of 16.  They are together now and continue their love story forever. They were always proud to be the first couple married in the Bradley Methodist Church.

Martha graduated from Bradley High School as Valedictorian in May of 1949. After Graduation Martha and Dale moved to Dallas, Texas where they had two daughters, Marilyn and Donna.

Martha's career included jobs at Jax Brewery, Coors Distributing and Scholle Corporation.

After retirement she and Dale moved to Angel Fire, New Mexico where they loved to host family and friends. Skiing, snowmobiling and hiking in the mountains were favorite pastimes. She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit most of the National Parks and many trips abroad.

After 12 years in New Mexico, they moved to Granbury Texas to be closer to family and friends where they lived for more than 10 years. After Dales death in 2015 Martha remained in Granbury until 2018 when she moved to the Dallas area.

Until her death Martha resided at Iris Memory Care surrounded by loving caregivers, staff and many friends.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Ruth Baker, Brother Carl Baker Jr. and wife Helen, Rogers Post Baker and wife Betty, Brother-in-law JL Massey and a special uncle William Starling,  killed in WWII while serving in Germany.
