Martin Norman Herman, Jr., 82, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away November 29, 2020. He was born May 13, 1938 in Ferriday, Louisiana to Martin Herman, Sr. and Helen Marie Herman. He graduated from Stamps High and then in 1962 he graduated from University of Arkansas in Monticello. Mr. Herman spent 32 years coaching football, basketball and track; he held a special bond with the girls track team. His first coaching job was at Hermitage High School and the last 25 years were spent at Lewisville High School. He also taught 7-12 grade Social Studies. Mr. Herman loved hunting and fishing, working with kids, collecting military items, raising dogs and watching dog shows.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marie Elaina Herman.

He is survived by wife of 58 years, Anne Herman; three sons, Martin "Marty" Herman, III of Stamps, AR, Mark Herman and wife Christi of Lewisville, AR and Michael Herman of Stamps, AR; daughter, Melinda Anne Alewine and husband, Richard of Bossier City, LA; four grandkids, Brian Miller and wife, Hillary of Converse, TX, Braden Herman and wife, Victoria of Texarkana, TX, Kaylee Miller of Bossier City, LA and Taylor Bowers and husband, Taylor of Arkansas; three great grandchildren and special friends, Frank Shewmake and Jerome Williams.

Graveside services will be held at 2PM, Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, AR with Pastor Dana Casey officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020 5PM-7PM at the Thomas Street Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Shewmake, Jerry Berry, Chad Miller, Billy May, Billy Dan Waggoner, Sid Dickson, Derek Matson and Randy Powell.
