Marvin Edward Jackson, age 70, of Taylor, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at his home.  He was born June 25, 1949 in Springhill, Louisiana to Edward Wallace and Ruth Ernestine Jackson.  Mr. Jackson was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he served for many years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Galilean leader, and youth sponsor.  He assisted the Taylor FFA as a Forestry Coach for many years and helped lead three teams to a National title.  Through his work with the church and school, he traveled many miles and touched countless young people's lives.  He was a former member of the Taylor School Board for 17 years, past member of Taylor City Council, volunteer firefighter and was retired from International Paper where he worked as a forester for 40 years.  Marvin could always be found at the ballpark rooting for his Taylor Tigers and Lady Tigers. Win or lose, he always called the Hogs.  Marvin was a devout patriot who loved his country and instilled his patriotism in his children and grandchildren.  Above all, he loved the Lord and his family was his pride and joy.  He was a shining example of a loving husband, devoted Daddy, and made each grandchild feel like they were his favorite.  Being "Papaw" was what gave him the most joy.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Ernestine Jackson.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart, wife of 51 years, Betty Jackson; three daughters, Vickie Frizzell, and husband Robby of Taylor, AR, Wendy Lucy and husband Chris of Magnolia, AR and Karen Jackson of Springhill, LA; brother, Bobby Jackson and wife, Judith of Taylor, AR; sister, Becky Sewell and husband, Laddie of Taylor, AR; three grandsons, Chase Whitehead and wife, Tori of Taylor, AR, Cody Lucy of Magnolia, AR and Caden Frizzell of Taylor, AR; two granddaughters, Chloe Whitehead of Taylor, AR and Emily Lucy of Magnolia, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2PM at First Baptist Church in Taylor, AR with Bro. Chris Lucy and Bro. Randy Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 5PM-8PM at First Baptist Church in Taylor.

Honoring Mr. Jackson as pallbearers will be Charles Taylor, Ronnie Thomas, Dalton Allison, Gary Hines, Rudy Barnett, Adam Camp, Jeffery Rogers and John Holtzclaw.
