Obituary

Mary Ellen Fitzgerald, age 93, of Taylor, AR passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at Homestead Manor Nursing Home in Stamps. Mrs. Fitzgerald was born December 28, 1923. She was a member of the former Lake Erling Missionary Baptist Church in Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents M.L. and Mae Bishop; brother, William "Pete" Bishop; half-brother, Kerlin Bishop; and other family members.

She is survived by son, Robert Darrell Fitzgerald and wife Deborah of Taylor; grandchildren, Jasson/Kim Fitzgerald of Sarepta, LA, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Taylor, Zachary Fitzgerald of Hot Springs, AR; Great-granddaughters, Brooke and Aubri Fitzgerald of Sarepta, LA and Makayla and Hayleigh Robinson of Moss Bluff, LA; sister, Tavie Fitzgerald of Bussey, AR; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She loved her family and when Darrell married Deborah they had the little girl they had always wanted. She was a Mama to Deborah loved and cared for her from the first day of marriage. She worked hard taking care of family. Darrell and Deborah couldn't have any children and when they chose to adopt, Ellen accepted them as hers and was so very proud of them and her great granddaughters were very special also, Makayla, Hayleigh, Brooke, Aubri loved their GG, they would always sing for her.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 2:00PM at Taylor Chapel with Bro. Danny Sikes officiating. Interment will follow at the Mars Hill Cemetery under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until service time at Taylor Chapel. Pallbearers will be Tommy Arnold, Allan Baker, Warren Fitzgerald, David Wright, Tracy Gordon, and Vernon Fitzgerald.

A special thank you to Encompass Hospice for all your love and care for all of us. Thank you to everyone at Homestead Manor. Such a kind and caring staff, I have never seen anywhere else. From top staff to bottom you can just feel the love they have for people. God Bless and thank you so very much.
