Obituary

Maudie Wesley Bethany, 97, of Taylor, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024. Maudie was born at home to her parents, Jacob "Cab" Taylor and Cora Britt Taylor of Taylor, Arkansas May 12, 1927. Maudie's mother passed just a few years later and she soon learned to care for the home where she and her father lived. She then met and married Juil Faye Bethany. In the early 1940's, the two resided briefly at Ft. Polk in Leesville, LA, while Juil was in his Army training. During Juil's deployment in WWII, Maudie returned to live with her father in Taylor, AR. After Juil was discharged in 1947, the two built a home and raised their children in the Walker Creek community. In the early years, she devoted her life to her children. Much time was spent traveling to and from Arkansas Children's Hospital and Shriner's hospitals for their eldest. Later, she dutifully cared for Juil and remained by his side in Bethesda, MD, at the Bethesda Medical Center, where he was treated at the military hospital for what was a difficult battle with Leukemia. After her husband's death, she sought employment with Alan White Company in Stamps, Arkansas. There, she worked her way up through operations until becoming an Inspection Supervisor. In her father's latter years, she once again devoted herself to caring for him. She would prepare and deliver his meals and check in on him as he lived alone until his death in his late 90's. Once retired, she spent time at home doing what she loved; watching grandchildren grow and spending time outdoors. She truly enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and all things nature. She was an active member of Forest Grove Baptist Church until becoming homebound in her later years.

Preceded in death by, her parents, Cora and Jacob "Cab" Taylor; husband, Juil Faye Bethany; brother Erie Taylor; sister, Audie Taylor Miller; and sons, Joel Bethany and James Bethany.
