Mr. Mercal Tee Gulley, Sr.

January 24, 1944 – September 30, 2021

Mr. Mercal T. Gulley, Sr. 77 years old of Prescott, Arkansas passed away Thursday evening September 30, 2021 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, Arkansas.

Mr. Gulley was born to the late Mr. DeWillie Gulley and the late Mrs. Lodia Harrell-Gulley on January 24, 1944 in McNeil Arkansas.

He was employed at Potlatch Lumber Company until he retired where he was a Kiln Operator.  He was an active member of Cana AME Church in Rosston, Arkansas and a man who loved his wife, his children, grandchildren and was well respected by his friends and associates.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Mrs. Daisy Dansby-Gulley, both of his parents, and both sets of his grandparents as well as five of his brothers, J.D. Gulley, Willie Gulley, Henry Lee Gulley, Althemier Gulley, and Wayman Gulley.

He is survived by his son, Mercal T. Gulley, Jr and wife Teresa of North Little Rock, Arkansas.  Two daughters, Barbara and husband Daniel Purifoy of Prescott Arkansas, Shirley and her husband Marshal Purifoy of Bluff City, Arkansas.  Two brothers, Lazarus and his wife Arizona Gulley of Rosston and Eddie and his wife Helen Gulley of Rockford Illinois.  One sister Ms. Mary Kate London of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, whose husband Willis is deceased.  He had nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at White Church Cemetery in Rosston, Arkansas where Pastor Chester L. Thompson of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Camden Arkansas will serve as Officiant and Pastor Patrick Gulley of Antioch Baptist Church, DeAnn, Arkansas will serve as Eulogist.  Service will be under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home and Staff.

The family will procession from Bethel AME, 190 Nevada County Road 200 in Rosston, to the cemetery at 10:15 a.m.  White Church Cemetery is located on Nevada County Road 46.

There will not be a public visitation.

Because of CDC guidelines from COVID and the rise of cases, all who intend to attend will be required to wear a mask and adhere to current social distancing guidelines.

MASK ARE REQUIRED DURING THE FUNERAL SERVICE.  YOUR COOPERATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
