Merrill Loren Rogers, age 81 of Buckner, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Homestead Nursing Home in Stamps, Arkansas. Mr. Rogers was born January 16, 1936 in Stamps to Lelland and Annie Mae Hendrix Rogers. He enjoyed working, fishing, and especially working with his cattle. Mr. Rogers owned his own car repair shop. He was a cotton mill worker, worked in the oil field, aluminum plant in Magnolia, AR, and Hudson Chevrolet Dealership.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie "Recee" Richardson Rogers; and a sister, Mary Helen Simmons.
He is survived by one son, Ricky Rogers and wife, Julia of Buckner, AR; two daughters, Rhonda Robinson and husband, Tony of Jonesboro, AR and Teressa Bollinger and husband, Andy of Conway, AR; a sister, Virginia Covington and husband, Bill of Buckner, AR; brother-in-law, Rolan Simmons of Nacogdoches, TX; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ola Jones of Hope, AR.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR with Bro. Oliver McKamie and Bro. Chris Vines officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
