Ovlen "Donnie" Tatom, age 81, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1943, in Stamps, Arkansas, to Lois and Ovlen Tatom. Donnie was known for his warm heart, adventurous spirit, and unyielding dedication to his family. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, Pops, Papaw, and friend whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Donnie is survived by his devoted wife, Annette; his children, David and Don; his stepchildren, Stephanie Lewis, Sarah Lofton, and Billy Creech; and his eight grandchildren, who will forever cherish his love and guidance. He is also remembered by his sisters, Judy Kendall (Larry) and Brenda Scroggins (Frank, deceased); his sister-in-law, Glenda Tatom; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovlen and Lois Tatom; his brother, Richard C. Tatom; his sister, Betty Collins; and his son, Chad E. Tatom.

Donnie had a distinguished career in the Army as a deep sea-salvage diver, which shaped his work ethic and adventurous spirit. His career in the oil field took him all over the country and the world. This work fueled his passion for the outdoors and his deep connection to nature. He also enjoyed a successful business career, owning real estate properties and running his own ventures.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Donnie loved hunting and fishing, often combining these hobbies with trips to explore new places. His adventures, especially in the mountains, were not just recreational- they were spiritual journeys that confirmed his belief in the grandeur of creation and the presence of God. His infectious laugh, storytelling, and sense of humor made every trip memorable. Friends knew that a hunting trip with Donnie was never complete without the planning of the next adventure.

Known for his tireless work ethic, Donnie was often up before dawn and returned home long after the sun had set. He dedicated his life to meeting needs of his family, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a solution to any problem. But what will be most dearly missed is his vibrant personality- his larger-than-life laugh, his charming smile, and his gift for making everyone feel special with his stories.

In keeping with Donnie's wishes, there will be no formal service. However, his life of service, adventure, and deep love for his family will continue to be celebrated by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Donnie's honor to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
