Sister Queen Esther Willis was born on March 26, 1923 in Waldo, Arkansas to Harvey Willis and
Ozie Berry Willis. Queen dedicated her life to Christ at a young age. She was surrounded by her
loving family, including several Aunts and Uncles.
Queen moved to Peoria, Arizona in her late twenties where she lived for over twenty years. She
moved to Firebaugh and Atwater, California, where she worked in the canneries and later the school
system. Queen lived in California for forty years, and was a devout member of Little Zion Baptist
Church in Mendota, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church, in Atwater, California. During the late 1980's,
Queen moved back to Waldo, Arkansas to be near family, who were ailing in health. She returned to
her family church, Saint John Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until she moved back
to Atwater, California to be with her family in 2017. Queen passed away peacefully while at home on
November 21, 2019.
Queen was a fearless and not afraid to say what was on her mind. She would talk to and help anyone.
When she wanted something done, she did it. She always gave sound advice based to her life
experiences.
Queen had an infectious laugh. She also loved fishing and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed
cooking, needle work and sewing. Her favorite pastime was reading her bible and teaching Adult
Sunday School. Queen enjoyed teaching her skills for gardening, braiding hair, and cooking to her
young relatives and friends. Queen loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a humble
servant.
Family
Queen joins in glory her mother and father, brother, Travis Beasley, and grandson, Reginald Davis.
Queen leaves to celebrate her life and rejoice in her homegoing her two children, Lennie Davis of
Atwater, California, and Lee Zachary of Waldo, Arkansas; one sister, Ruby Nell Willis of Dallas,
Texas; two grandchildren, Michael Davis and Jennifer Davis Rudd (Cedric) both of Atwater,
California; five great grandchildren, Carliss Randle, Alexis Davis, Jaden Rudd and Kailani Rudd, all
of Atwater, California, and I'Layia Rudd of Killeen, Texas; three great great grandchildren, Khiry
Davis of Magnolia, Arkansas, Jamir Walker of Atwater, California, and Devon Johnson of Killeen,
Texas, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Saint John Baptist Church,
714 Jackson Street, Waldo, Arkansas with Rev. Hal W. Prevoe, officiating. Interment will follow at
Smith Cemetery in Waldo, Arkansas under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Homes.
