Robert "Bob" Hugh Spoonts, age 89 of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Mr. Spoonts was born April 14, 1927 in Bauxite, Arkansas to Dewey and Ethel Spoonts. He lived in Benton, Arkansas for many years, contributing to the success of Reynolds Metals Hurricane Creek Plant in many ways. Mr. Spoonts was a Chemical Engineer for 42 years with Reynolds Metals and traveled all over the world with his job. He was very generous and loving to his community and church. He enjoyed his yard, woodworking, entertaining friends, and tracking the stock market.
Mr. Spoonts was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Claire Spoonts; a brother, Dean Spoonts; and a sister, Kathleen McDonnall.
He is survived by his brother, Ed Spoonts and wife, Violet of Burnet, TX; two nieces, Ellen Holleman of Hamilton, MT and Kathy McGuffin and husband, Bill of Gilmer, TX; nephew, James "Von" Puska and wife, Kim of Benton, AR; numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 5pm Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR with Rev. John Noggle officiating and Rev. LaVerne Keahey assisting. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bradley, AR. Pallbearers will be Graham Knight, Danny Ormand, Brian Sieger, Bill McGuffin, and James Puska. Visitation will be held from 4pm to service time Thursday at the funeral home. A special thanks to caregivers, Nicolette Smith and Louise Toney for years of love, care, and compassion.
