Obituary

Rose McDougald peacefully and joyfully laid aside her earthly clothes and was escorted into the presence of her Lord Jesus on October 19, 2015. She was born February 17, 1925 in Sutton, Arkansas to Howard and Martha Ellen Erwin. Having lost her only brother, Arthur Dale, a pilot during the bombing of Germany in 1944, she met her husband to be at RRAD. Staff Sgt. Zimrie P. McDougald left for Okinawa three weeks after the wedding. They were married for forty years. He preceded her in death as did her parents and four siblings. Also waiting in Heaven, one granddaughter, Elizabeth Tipton Jacobs.

Rose is survived by two daughters, Michele Cobb of Texarkana, and Vicki Tipton and husband, Robert of Louisville, KY; and seven grandchildren, John, Mitch, Holly, Amy, Adam, Steven, and Joseph. Rose was loved by six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; ten nieces and nephews; and several cousins and friends. She always had a song on her lips, all alone or singing with The Treble Trio. Rose worked as an abstractor for a local attorney.

A private graveside ceremony was held October 21, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Texarkana, AR and Del Collins of Sutton, AR officiated under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. The extraordinary caregivers from Dierksen Hospice and the personal care of Lupe Acosta gave such comfort for an entire year.

Rose would want any memorials to be made to Watersprings Ranch, Texarkana, AR. Online registration is available at www.aosmithfuneralhome.com.
