Obituary

Maxine Thomas Owen, 95, of Stamps, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Magnolia Health and Rehab in Magnolia. She was born November 22, 1920, in Stamps to Narvel and Sarah Perry Thomas.

She was part of the greatest generation who went to work with "Rosie the Riveter" in an airplane factory while living in California. After moving back to Stamps, she was a homemaker and an active member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Travis Owen; and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Pierce Owen.

Survivors include three children; daughter and son-in-law Floyd and Elizabeth Tye of Magnolia; son, Gary Owen of Mount Prospect, Illinois; and daughter, Linda Kaye Harris of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Family will receive friends from (5-7 Wednesday, July 27, 2016), at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas. Burial will be under the direction of Smith Funeral Home (Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 11:00 am) at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas with Rev. John Noggle officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Stamps or First United Methodist Church in Magnolia.
