Ruth Ann Mitchell, age 71, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Ms. Mitchell was born September 9, 1942, in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who always saw to the needs of others before herself.

Ms. Mitchell was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Elton Marlar; by Sumner Mitchell; brother, James Ronald "Sonny" Marlar; and a nephew, Joshua Whistle.

She is survived by her mother, Nina Faye Marlar Hillis of Texarkana; three daughters, Leslie Mitchell and Kelly Mitchell both of Texarkana, and Katie Williams and husband, Chase of Stamps, AR; sister, Lewis Faye Whistle of Texarkana; two sister-in-laws, Jean Mitchell of Tyler, TX and Vivian Marlar of Texarkana; one granddaughter, Haleigh Ewing of Texarkana; great grandson, Jase Williams of Stamps, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, AR with Bro. Jimmy Mitchell officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Smith Funeral Homes in Stamps.
