Samuel "Sammy" Tillman Hudgens, 82, of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Sammy was born in Magnolia, Arkansas to Isaac and Mary Grace Sewell Hudgens. He was the happiest when restoring old cars and could tell you where every old car was in South Arkansas and surrounding areas. You could always start a conversation with Sammy by asking "What kind of car is that?" He loved watching NHRA racing and was an avid football fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a fan of baseball as well, and his team to watch was the Texas Rangers. Sammy enjoyed watching westerns on tv as well as Wheel of Fortune. He had a never-ending sweet tooth! Sam will be missed by many friends and family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Grace Hudgens; son, James Alan Hudgens; brothers Terrell Hudgens, Eddie Hudgens, Billy Hudgens, and Tommy Hudgens; sisters, Mary Cook, Betty Jean Wells, Louise Burris, and Janette Sherman.
Sam is survived by wife Betty Hudgens, children Samuel Lewis Hudgens (Barbara) of Magnolia AR, Robert Brian Hudgens (Melissa) of Gainesville TX, Chris Dashney of Madison, WI, Diana Venus of Waterloo, IL, Brandy Black Ester of Enid, OK, and Amanda Black Keeney (Ben) of Texarkana TX; and one surviving sister Annette Hudgens Bell of Alexandria, VA.
Grandchildren Samantha Reanne Hudgens, Steven Locklear (Crystal), Greg Locklear, Bryson Hudgens (Victoria), Tyler Hudgens, Brenden Hudgens, Robert Ross, Whitney Ester, and Tucker Keeney, 3 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Greg Locklear, Royce Sherman, Greg Sherman, Peyton Franks, Tucker Keeney and Jeremy Franks. Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Shackelford.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 16, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the A.O. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Stamps AR. The service will be Monday, November 17, 2025 at 2pm A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps with Brother Eric Goble officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Stamps, AR.
Services are under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.
