Shirley Cherry (Mammaw) 89 of DeKalb, Texas, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side at The Villa of Texarkana, Texas. She was born November 24, 1935, in Lewisville, Arkansas to Arval and Mary Audie Barbaree. She was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years. Shirley lived her life as a faithful Christian. She enjoyed her daily Bible study, reading, doing her crossword puzzles, crocheting and she loved being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack R. Cherry, her parents, two brothers, Eric Barbaree and Hoyt Barbaree. Two sisters, Doris Stultz and Kathy Nolan. Two sons, Rodney Cherry and Jack Cherry Jr, and one grandson, Cory Wasmuth.
She is survived by one son, Douglas Cherry (Heather) of Conway, Arkansas. Two daughters, Teresa Glazer (Bruce) of Delta, Colorado and Barbara Chandler (Valton) of DeKalb, Texas. One brother, Steve Barbaree of Lewisville, Arkansas. 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Funeral services will be 2P.M. Monday, May 5, 2025, at the A.O. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, Arkansas with Bro. Eric Barbaree and Bro. Takumi Nishiuchi officiating under direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1P.M. until 2P.M. Monday, May 5, 2025 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery in Falcon, Arkansas
