Mildred Shirley Teague Steadman, 85, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away February 9, 2021. She was born August 1, 1935 in Buckner, Arkansas to Leonard Carl Teague and Mary Catherine Ash Teague. She was a member of Life United Church in Shreveport, LA.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Dorenda Steadman; seven brothers, Haskell, Clifton, Wilfred, Thurman, Herman, Bobby and Carl Teague; five sisters, Clara Festervand, Linda Knighten, Margarite Harbor, Wilma Leshe and Louise Parker.
She is survived by her two sons, Stanley Wayne Steadman and wife, Delina of Hineston, LA and Roger Lane Steadman and wife, Robin of Keatchie, LA; daughter, Jeanie Marie Steadman of Shreveport, LA; sister, Betty Allen; four grandchildren, Roger Lane Steadman, II and fiancé Jordan, Colton Norman Steadman and wife Meredith, Justin Wayne Steadman and Sarah Elizabeth Steadman; two great grandchildren Lorelei E. Steadman and Irelynn R. Penalber; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Garden Park Nursing Home for the care and compassion they provided to our loved one, especially during these trying covid times. We would also like to thank the Willis Knighton South emergency room for the compassionate care given during the final moments.
Mrs. Steadman was the mother of a Shreveport fireman and was treated like the mother of all the firemen. We would like to thank the Shreveport Fire Department for all the previous care and visits she received. She loved you all. A special thank you to Engine 9, Rescue 15, Medic 15 and Car 83 for the professionalism and expert care she received during resuscitation attempts and transport.
Cremation services were provided by A.O. Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
A visitation for the family has been set for Saturday, February 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
