Shirley Jean Vickers, 87, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away on October 3, 2023. She was born on September 27, 1936, to Frank and Edith McCrary in Doddridge, Arkansas. Serving the school system for 28 years in the cafeteria surrounded by children, her love of cooking and raising her children came natural. She loved to cook for all her family and to spend time with them. Every grandchild was given a nickname. Shirley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In her pastime, you would find her television tuned to Fox News, especially when Jessie Watter's was on.
Preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Frank McCrary; her spouse, Bruce Wayne Vickers; her sisters, Louise Johnson and Frankie Greer; her granddaughter, Kelley McClendon Ensley; Son in Law Johnny Lee Hood; and Daughter in Law Judy Vickers
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Larry Vickers (Penny) of Stamps, Arkansas and Bruce Vickers Jr of Stamps, Arkansas; daughters Pam Sprinkle (Bill) of Stamps, Arkansas, Cindy Walker (Danny) of Stamps, Arkansas, and JoGwen Phillips (Stevie) of Stamps, Arkansas; grandsons, Gary Vickers (D.J.) of El Paso, Texas; Patrick Hood (Jacinda) of Norman, Arkansas, Brian McClendon (Dena) of Stamps, Arkansas, Samuel Phillips (Dana) of Stamps, Arkansas, and Zach Vickers (Courtney) of Northglenn, Colorado; great grandson, Taylor Vickers of El Paso, Texas; great granddaughters, Chanellor Vidal of Austin, Texas, Kendall McClendon Jones (Myles) of Emerson, Arkansas, Brynlee McClendon of Stamps, Arkansas, Ellory McClendon of Stamps, Arkansas, Tilly McClendon of Stamps, Arkansas and Magdalene Hood of Norman, Arkansas; and her first great great grandson expected in December, Kohen Jones.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at A O Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Stamps, Arkansas. Brother Kenneth Bobo will be officiated, under the direction of AO Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, Arkansas. There will be a visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at AO Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Wentworth Place of Magnolia, Arkansas, especially Lexi (her favorite nurse) and CNA's Katie, Brittney, Diamond and Brandon.
