Stevie Yates Sr. age 70 of Buckner, Arkansas passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born June 14, 1954, in Danville, Arkansas to J.B. and Jo Ann Yates. Mr. Steve enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing, throwing horseshoes, working on old cars, riding in his 1933 Plymouth, being with family, friends and his dogs. He was a member of the Onyx Baptist Church and the United States Army.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Charles Lee Yates and one sister Mary Seaton.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Treat Yates of Buckner, Arkansas. Two sons, Stevie Yates Jr. (Tammy) of Lewisville, Arkansas and Russell Yates (Margie) of Buckner, Arkansas. Six grandchildren, Taylor Yates of Little Rock, Arkansas, Brittany Pletcher (Kurt) of Magnolia, Arkansas, Amber Yates of Lewisville, Arkansas, Jayden Yates of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Langston Munn (Heather) of Texarkana and Samantha Adams (Jesse) of Prescott, Arkansas. Three brothers Carl Yates (Mary) of Dardenelle, Arkansas Lee Yates (Connie) of Aly, Arkansas and JB Yates (Wilma) of Hot Springs, Arkansas. One sister Marilyn Gottsponer (Jim) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and five great grandchildren along with a host of friends, family and relatives.

Funeral services will be 2P.M. Thursday January 16, 2025, at the Smith Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Adam Rogers officiating under direction of Smith Funeral Home with interment at Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12P.M. until 2P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
