Travis S. Gore was born in Bradley, Arkansas May 9, 1934 to Sam and Inez Gore. He was called to his Heavenly home on August 29, 2026 at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family.

Travis attended Bradley Schools where he graduated in 1952 as most handsome and most athletic. He was a member of the Bradley High School basketball and baseball teams, ran track, and was all-district in basketball. Travis attended Southern State College (SAU) where he was on the basketball team. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1956 and subsequently served in Korea for two years. After completing his active-duty service, he continued serving as a Sergeant in Company E, 1st Battle Group, 153rd Infantry Regiment “First Arkansas” of the Arkansas Army National Guard until 1961.

Travis graduated from SAU in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and later attended graduate school at Arkansas State University where he earned a masters degree in school administration and graduated with a 4.0GPA.

Travis started his career as a coach and principal of the Walkers Creek School District then served 10 years as superintendent of Winthrop schools. In 1972, Travis and his family moved back to his hometown of Bradley, where he served as superintendent of the Bradley school district for 22 years. During his administration, Bradley School received its North Central Association accreditation, a new elementary school and high school were built, and many updates were made to the campus, for which he took great pride. He was awarded the Community Service Award for his many contributions to the school and community of Bradley. In 22 years as administrator, he never missed a Bradley athletic event or took a single sick day.

Travis has always been a dedicated and talented athlete. Many summers were spent playing, and later coaching, semi-pro baseball. At 92 years old, he could still be found throwing a baseball to his grandkids. He has been a season football ticket holder and member of The Arkansas Razorback Foundation for almost 50 years and was an avid hog fan!

In 1956 Travis married the love of his life Mickie Clary Gore. They shared almost 60 years of marriage together and were an inspiration to all who knew them. What a beautiful reunion they shared in heaven! Together they built a legacy which included their four children: Gayla (Mike) Mills of Bossier City, LA, Todd (Lisa) Gore of Texarkana, AR, Blake (Jessi) Gore of Magnolia, AR, and Brady Gore of Stamps, AR, 11 grandchildren: Trent (Amber), Daniel (Daynna), Micaela (TJ), Mallory (Michael), Dillon, Madison (Jonathon), Tate (Rachel), Marley, Gage, Milah, and Levi, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild who all adore their Pop. He was truly made to be a Pop and loved his family so well. When it came to kids he said “the more the merrier!” He sang “The Crawdad Song” to every baby he ever held and told the best bedtime stories. His family was his pride and joy and they remain convinced he hung the moon.

Travis served as a deacon at Bradley Baptist church where he has been a member since 1943. He was the chairman of the finance committee where he served as church treasurer for more than 40 years. He also served as President of the Bradley Rotary Club, board member of Camp Canfield, board member of Bradley Housing Authority, and was a charter member of the Bradley Chamber of Commerce. He loved spending time at the deer camp and was a long-time member of Lafayette County Deer Club. He looked forward to spending this time with his sons and grandkids every year.

In 1992 the annual Travis S. Gore Scholarship was created in his honor and later the Travis S. Gore chapter of the National Honor Society. The Travis S. Gore Sports Complex was dedicated to him in 2010 for his many years of service to Bradley High School athletics, where he remained a loyal fan. In 2019, he was inducted into the Lafayette County Leadership Council Hall of Fame.

Travis was a walking history book for the town of Bradley and never missed an opportunity to share his memories and love for his hometown. He is respected by many for his leadership, integrity, and dedication to his family, friends, town, church, and the many teachers and students’ lives he impacted over the years.

Travis is survived by his younger sister Shirley (Sissy), sister in-law-Carol, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Buggy (and sister-in-law Frances) and Merle, brother-in-law Leo, mother-in-law Deo Clary, father-in-law Odell Clary, brother-in-law Bill Warren, sister-in-law Huberta Warren, and his beloved wife Mickie Gore.

The family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers and to the entire Bradley community for the love, kindness, care, and friendship you so freely gave him, especially throughout these last few years. Your willingness to show up, lend a helping hand, sit with him, check on him, and love him as your own meant more to our family than words could ever express.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Bradley Baptist Church in Bradley, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Bradley Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bradley, Arkansas.
