Velma Lee McCubbin Gildon, our beautiful mother (mom) left this world on May 8, 2022 at the age of 97 on strong legs and with a glorified body to dance her way to Heaven's Gates. There awaiting on her are her three beloved grandsons, Terry Ray Gildon, Nicholas Todd Pickett and Darrell Ried Gildon to escort her into God's Kingdom. Also meeting her is her great-great granddaughter Gracie Mae Dean and daughter in love Gayle Gildon.

Mom was a gentle soul with a loving heart. She dedicated her life to her children Jimmy Gildon of Shongaloo, LA, Raymond Gildon (Beverly) of Bradley, AR, Virginia Barnette of Spiro, OK, and Jean Pickett (Jerry Dean) of Walker Creek, AR; she leaves a legacy of love with her 7 grandkids, 24 great grandkids and 17 great-great grandkids. She knew and loved each and every one.

Mom loved to sew and had a wonderful talent for crafts which she passed on to her granddaughters, Renee Gildon Shaver, Debbie Barnette Peters and hopefully will influence her youngest, Scarlotte Pickett.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, E.E. Gildon.

The family wishes to thank Summit Health for their love and care of our mother. They have become family to us.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00A.M. at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Bro. Joseph Stacks officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Jeremy Malone, Justin Gildon, Randy Barnette, Brady Gildon, Micah Whitehead and Mason Whitehead.

Honorary Pallbearers: Her great grandsons, Jacob and Garett Malone, Dalton and Michael Richardson, Josh, Micah and Wyatt Barnette, Stetson Gildon and Alexander Allen.
