Winfred Vernon Griffin, Jr., better known as Vernon Griffin of Bussey, Arkansas, passed on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was born in Magnolia, AR on February 4,1953 to Winfred Vernon Griffin, Sr. and Marie Robertson Griffin. He was preceded in death by both parents, his oldest brother, James Griffin and sister, Mary Ellen Culp.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 24 years, Krista Henry Griffin of Stamps; two sons, Troy V. Griffin and wife Ashley and Kyle V. Griffin; two daughters, Staci Griffin Wilson and husband Chris and Natalie Griffin Holland and husband Nick; two step sons, Darren Phillips and Dillon Phillips and wife Brittany; 10 grandchildren, Colton Griffin, Levi Griffin, Wyatt Wilson, Emmaline Holland, Lydia Holland, Skylar Phillips, Kristin Cole Phillips, Liam Phillips, Marley Phillips and one on the way, Romy Phillips; One Brother Dr. Rodney Griffin and wife Rosemary and many other nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Vernon loved to spend time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and his tractor. He had a soft place in his heart for the animal kind and kept many pets throughout the years including dogs,cats, birds, squirrels, a raccoon and two bobcats. Vernon was a pharmacist by profession and owned Griffins Pharmacy in Stamps, AR. He was in pharmacy for about 42 years. He retired in 2019, hoping to finally spend more time doing all of those things that he enjoyed but was stricken with a debilitating illness that gradually took all of his mobility and eventually his life.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Saturday, March 6, 2021 at AO Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Frazier Cemetery in Waldo, AR with Bro. Luther Harris officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Homes. Visitation will be Friday, March 5, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps from 5PM-7PM.
