Virta Lee Newton, 75 of Stamps passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016
at Houston, TX Hospice Center. She was born in McKamie on August 12, 1940, to Olive Johnson and Velma Green Matlock.
She was a faith member of New Testament World of Life Church.
Virta is preceded in death by her husband, B. J. Newton, Velma Smith and John H. Johnson, her parents and six siblings.
She is survived by one son, Jerry (Tonya)Lawson of Katy, TX and one daughter Verta Lee (Eric)Green of Houston, TX. Three brothers, Willie Lee (Rubie) of Texarkana, TX, Floyd (Maxille) of Lewisville, AR, and Lee James of Stamps, AR. Three sisters, Gloria, Dorothy Jo both of Stamps, AR and Rosie Matlock of Lt. Rock, AR; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at
Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.
Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2016 from 11 until 4pm at the Funeral Home.
